General Information

The following information is designed to provide you with information about our club, how we operate and the assistance we require from parents/guardians to ensure its success and sustainability.

Our Requirements
The club is run and managed by volunteers. We require volunteers to take an active role in helping the club for our children to play the sport they love. Without this assistance, the club would not be able to provide a service to the community nor allow the opportunity for our children to play. We require coaches, assistant coaches, team managers, linesmen, game leaders and parent/guardian assistance for the running of competition each Sunday.

Coach/Assistant Coach/Team Manager
Each team requires a coach, assistant coach and team manager. Please consider helping in one of these roles. Coaches and assistant coaches will be required to attend a Grassroots or Skill Training Certificate course at the expense of the club. Team managers are to organise and manage the team and parent/guardian rosters. A detailed responsibility on what a team manager does is on our website under Club Information/Downloads and Ref. Please email admin@woodvalefc.net if interested in any of the above roles.

Time Keeper (Mini Roos U6-U7)
For home games only, a time keeper is required. This person is to keep time of the game. 10 minutes per half with a 5-minute half time break.

Game Leader (Mini Roos U6-U12)
For U6 – U7 a game leader is required to run a team every game day. Each team has 4 players per side no goal keeper.
For U8 – U12 home games only, we are to provide a game leader.
Becoming a game leader is a wonderful way for a parent/guardian to participate in the game. The main role of the game leader is to keep the game moving fluently, limit stoppages and assist players with all match restarts. Most importantly remember the children are learning the game – be flexible and patient. More details on the game leader role is on our website under Club Information/Downloads and ref – Mini Roos Rules & Format & Mini Roo Game Leader.

Linesman (U13 and up)
Each game, the team is to provide one linesman. The linesman’s job is simply to assist the referee. Whether by calling an offside or directing a throw-in, the referee relies on the linesman’s input. Basic flag waving notes are on our website under Club Information/Coach Information.

Additional Parent/Guardian Help
Parent/guardians are required to help set up and pull down nets and goals when playing at home grounds and participate in a fruit roster for all games.

Equipment/Kit Care
We advise no children are allowed in the store rooms at Timblerlane Park and Chichester Park. This is for their safety. Children aren’t to swing on the goals. The orange game top is to be worn to game day and not training. These tops are to come back to the club at the end of season. All logo’s & numbers on the tops are adhered using a heat seal process. To ensure that these do not come off the top please wash in cold water only, do not tumble dry or iron. If these steps are followed, then there should be no issues with the numbers or logos coming off the shirt. Should any of these start to peel, please contact the committee to have this rectified.

Fundraising
Every year we hold 2-3 fundraising events from a cocktail night (for parents, friends and members), kids disco, movie night (for our miniroos/junior players), quiz night to BBQ’s. We ask all parents to support and join in the fun.

The club is committed to a sustainable and optimistic growth strategy which includes the valuable support and sponsorship from local businesses. There are multiple options available to suit all budgets. If this is something you may be interested in, please contact president@woodvalefc.net
